AnswerDear Antonio,
The movie you remember might be this one:
Mosquito Squadron (made in 1969).
Director: Boris Sagal
Writers: Joyce Perry Joyce Perry, and and Donald S. Sanford.
Donald S. Sanford
Starring David McCallum as Sq. Leader Quint Munroe, and also with Suzanne Never, Charles Gray, and David Buck
To save England, Quint must sacrifice everything he loves.
Trivia: The Bouncing Bomb used in the film was a real weapon. Known as Highball (a smaller version of the Dambusting Upkeep bomb), it was originally designed by Dr. Barnes Wallis to be utilized against battleships, such as the Tirpitz. The Highball bomb weighed 1,280lb (580kg), carried 600lb (272kg) of explosive, and was small enough to be carried in tandem by a Mosquito fighter-bomber. Prior to release the bomb was imparted with a backward spin of 700-900 revolutions per minute, and dropped at high speed (360 mph (580km/h)) and low altitude (60 ft (18.2m)).
Movies Unlimited has the title on DVD right now, and it's on sale. Their DVD version is in Widescreen; and has a soundtrack in English Dolby Digital mono, with choices of subtitles in English, French, and Spanish. It also has a theatrical trailer.
Their web site describes the plot as:
Mosquito Squadron [DVD] (1969)
David McCallum stars as an R.A.F. pilot sent to tell his best friend's wife that her husband was killed in action. As the two begin to renew a romance they shared before the war, McCallum is ordered to bomb a Nazi factory believed to be creating the dreaded V-3 rocket. But when British Intelligence reports suggest that his friend is alive and being held captive with other Allied pilots, at the same location, McCallum concocts a plan to free the prisoners before the bombing run. Suzanne Neve, Charles Gray co-star. 90 min.
One memorable piece of the dialogue was while the plane was in a low dive:
Nav: I hope you brought your driving licence.
Munroe: Why?
Nav: Fly any lower and you're going to need it.
