Classic Film/old black and white film

Question
My mom watched this movie with her grandma in 50's ish. It was a black and white movie. Two men were moving a dead mans body around. They moved him into town square, then onto the porch, in a car with a cigar in his mouth and into a bed in a big house. A woman lays down in bed with this dead body and runs out of the house screaming. It almost sounds like a "weekend at bernies" type of movie. Any idea's or hints would be greatly appreaciated. I want to give this to my mom for mothers day. Thanks.

Answer
Hello Lynneita,

This sounds very much like Alfred Hitchcock's "The Trouble With Harry" (Paramount 1955). It starred John Forsythe, Edmund Gwenn, Mildred Natwick and a 21-year-old Shirley MacLaine.

Plot Summary: The trouble with Harry is that he's dead, and everyone in the small New England town seems to have a different idea of what needs to be done with his body. Particularly as almost everyone in town thinks that they had something to do with his death.

Glad to be of help. Cheers.........Mel.
