who was the female lead
Hello Eileen,
Do you perhaps mean the 1961 film "Judgment at Nuremberg"? If you do, there were two female leads, Judy Garland and Marlene Deitrich. Garland was Oscar nominated for her role. ("Trial At Nuremberg" was a 1964 documentary).
