I am quite sure that he does not play clarinet at all.  Any sax vs. clarinet confusion probably arises from the fact that a soprano saxophone sounds a LOT like a clarinet.  But it's got a tad more squeal/scratchiness to its sound than a clarinet.  I see people constantly confusing the sound of them...and it doesn't help that a soprano sax has a totally different shape than most saxophones
