Question
I have been trying to track down 2 songs and artists but all I have are a few obscure lyrics. I think both songs are from late 60s, possibly early 70s. The only words I have from the first song are: 'Don't you know she said hello to me' and the gist of the song was the girl had ignored him for ages. the other song has the words (not necessarily in the right order!) We have friends by the river, who have friends of their own. The chorus is something like: friends beside us, friends who guide us.... I realise this is a bit of a tall order. I have tried countless websites but come up with nothing. Thank you.

Answer
Indeed a toughy.   The first one I may have found for you,  there was an obscure band called Butterscotch that had a hit called "Don't you know she said hello"  in 1970.  Here is some info about them: http://www.livebandphotos.co.uk/butterscotch/

I think the second song might be "Friends"  by a band called Arrival which was on an album released in 1970.
It was written by Terry Reid.

I hope this is what you are looking for.

I can answer general questions about rock era bands, record labels they were on, and names of songs. Often I can tell the name of the record company that released a song, as well as the name of the song, and the year of release based on some of the lyrics. I grew up during the rock era and I am a musician myself, and always read the album and 45 info for production credits as well as lineups. One of the chat rooms I go to is quite amused at my ability to name a song along with it`s year of release and record label. I was also a record collector for years.
