Question
QUESTION: There's a couple of songs by the same band whose lyrics are rolling around in my head because I heard them at a lounge the other night.  Here is goes .. something about "left (somewhere) and ended up in San Franciso ... blah blah and then "in the city" na na na na na NA NA NA and the other is "you're the only woman" .. any idea?

ANSWER:   I may not be much help with these, but here goes.
There is a song by Ambrosia called "You're The Only Woman".
However, I don't know of any song by them that has the words "san francisco" in it.
I cannot think of a song with lyrics similar to that about San Francisco, and there are a ton of songs around about that city.
Wish I could be of more help.

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: Yeah found the Ambrosia one - not it unfortunatley.  Maybe they ended up in New York .. not sure.  The In the City one is definitely the song with the most na na na na na na na na na na's ever that isn't reggae.  It's definitely a different sound that has a blues aspect to it.  Oh well someday we shall figure it out. sigh.  Thanks for checking into it.

Answer
Tell you what,   think of EVERYTHINg about both songs you can.   Things that may seem trivial.   What instruments, mostly guitars?   percussion other than drums?  Organ?  how the singers voice sounds,  perhaps another singer that sings in a similar style.
Compile all the info you can, plus add what you have already told me ,  and send the info to my email address  which is guitarskeeter@yahoo.com  .
Put SKEETER in the subject line so I know it is not spam.
This has me intrigued and I would like to work on it more.

Also, this would help a lot, if you can give me an idea of when you first heard each song on the radio.  That is a biggie.   If I can nail down aprox what year the songs were released that makes doing research easier.

I can answer general questions about rock era bands, record labels they were on, and names of songs. Often I can tell the name of the record company that released a song, as well as the name of the song, and the year of release based on some of the lyrics. I grew up during the rock era and I am a musician myself, and always read the album and 45 info for production credits as well as lineups. One of the chat rooms I go to is quite amused at my ability to name a song along with it`s year of release and record label. I was also a record collector for years.
