Question
CAN YOU TELL ME WHO THE GUITARIST IS ON THE DAVID LIVE ALBUM OF 1974. I KNOW IT WAS RECORDED IN PHILADELPHIA

Answer
I am not really much of a Bowie fan,  I lean more toward rock music than I do light pop stuff and madison avenue marketing type of music,  BUT,  I do know that Mick Ronson is the guy that gave early David Bowie albums their sound, but it seems to me that by the  time time of the live album Earl Slick had taken his place in Bowies band.
Mr Ronson was a rock guitarist and gave some of Mr Bowies music a bit of a rock edge.
By 1975 , if I remember right,  Mr Bowies music had lost any kind of rock edge it had, so I would guess that by then Mick Ronson was gone and it was Earl Slick on that album doing a Mick Ronson impersonation.
So,   it was either Mick Ronson or Earl Slick.  I am leaning toward Earl Slick.
Mr Slick was a pretty prominent guitarist, not real famous or anything but he worked with enough musicians that there is probably a wikipedia entry for him.

I can answer general questions about rock era bands, record labels they were on, and names of songs. Often I can tell the name of the record company that released a song, as well as the name of the song, and the year of release based on some of the lyrics. I grew up during the rock era and I am a musician myself, and always read the album and 45 info for production credits as well as lineups. One of the chat rooms I go to is quite amused at my ability to name a song along with it`s year of release and record label. I was also a record collector for years.
