I can answer general questions about rock era bands, record labels they were on, and names of songs. Often I can tell the name of the record company that released a song, as well as the name of the song, and the year of release based on some of the lyrics. I grew up during the rock era and I am a musician myself, and always read the album and 45 info for production credits as well as lineups. One of the chat rooms I go to is quite amused at my ability to name a song along with it`s year of release and record label. I was also a record collector for years.

Classic Rock - need help naming this song

Question
Hi, I just recently got into classic rock and my local station q104.3 plays great music but there are so many songs I hear and wish I knew who sings them.  This one song I'm looking for is a slow song and it sounds kind of sad, it has some harmonica I think and the only lyrics I could remember in the song were "rock and roll will never die".  I noticed there are some other songs out there with those lyrics but when I look them up they seem to be more hard rock or punk but this particular song is really mellow with like an acoustic guitar, please help, this song has been stuck in my head for days and I need to hear it to get it out, thanks again.

Answer
I suspect you are thinking of "Hey Hey My My"  by Neil Young.
I think there is a kickass rockin version AND an acoustic version of this song.
I am not sure if it is a single or an album cut,  if it is an album cut it might be called
"My My Hey Hey"  or "Out of the Blue into the Black"  or something like that.
I say that because I have a faint recollection of that song having two different names for the
different versions.
I could be mistaken about that,  it is a vague memory.
I hope this is the answer you are looking for.
