Question
Which late sixties rock tune contained the following lyrics:
"Don't give a thought to anything in the world but you and me" and who performed the song?
During verse, background singers sing: dut-d-dudut-dut etc.

Answer
Is there a chance it might be "You and Me" by Penny and the Quarters?  The song had male backup singers, and your description is oddly similar to the song.  You can check it out on youtube, as there are several posts for this song.  That's my best guess - it's more "doo-wop" than rock & roll, though.
