Classic Rock - Crazy Love?

Expert: Amarilis Gibeli - 10/6/2004

Question
There was what I believe is a one-hit wonder from around 1979 or '80, and I believe the title is "Crazy Love" but I'm not certain.  I'll begin by saying it's not by Poco, Van Morrison, or the Allman Brothers.  I recall only the opening line: "She was just sixteen and it sounds obscene but she knew just how to give me love..."  That's all I remember of it.  It was a great song, and if I could find a copy on CD and who sang it, I'd be most appreciative. Good luck.

Hello Ted,

Thanks for your attention.

Here goes the lyrics:

Crazy love, crazy love, crazy love
She was standing there with her long blonde hair
And her burnin' eyes were callin' me
It was a Friday night and I was feelin' right
So I asked the girl to dance with me
She was long and lean, like a beauty queen
And she said her name was Destiny
She was just a girl, just a teenage pearl
But she wanted more than company

Crazy love, crazy love, crazy love
But you're old enough for lovin'
Crazy love, crazy love, crazy love
Said you're old enough for lovin'

With a schoolgirl smile, she knew all the while
I'd do anything she asked me to
And then she held me near and whispered in my ear,
“There's this crazy thing I like to do.”
She said, “Take me home, so we can be alone,
'Cause my daddy's workin' overtime.”
And then she wet her lips, and with a little kiss
She sent shivers up and down my spine.

Crazy love, crazy love, crazy love
But you're old enough for lovin'
Crazy love, crazy love, crazy love
Said you're old enough for lovin'

You're a stranger in paradise
And this is your first rendezvous
I'm the man of your dreams tonight
I'll take all your wishes, and make ‘em come true

Well, she was just sixteen, and it sounds obscene
But she know just how to give me love
And ever since that night, much to my delight
It's my love I give her plenty of
And I thank that day that she came my way
'Cause she's more than just another love
She's my treasure box, in her bobby sox
She's my woman, she's my crazy love

Crazy love, crazy love, crazy love
But you're old enough for lovin'
Crazy love, crazy love, crazy love
Said you're old enough for lovin'

FYI, The Dakota's leader, Jerry G. Hludzik, begins his saga in Northeast Pennsylvania with a band called The Buoys, and for coincidence, I have their first album "Timothy", from 1971.
If you need anything else, please feel free to get in touch, ok?

With my regards,

Amarilis Gibeli  -  "Searchin'  around..."
