Hi Geoff, if you're in your 40's you might know this one, it's been driving me crazy searching the net for a lyric match. I believe the song is from the 70's, had a lot of radio play, 1 male singer probably american. some of the (adulterated)lyrics may be "i had a dream (the other day?) that i could learn to fly" a lot of the words rhyming with fly flying die dying. the art of flying was really dying. chorus had alot of na na na nas in it along with " so spread your wings and fly away, up into the sky/sun.sound was kinda folk/rock with orchestra. I would really appreciate your help. Thanks

The only 70's songs I can recall having those lyrics are Queen's "Spread Your Wings" and & Bread "Fly Away". Neither of which mentions dieing....
Sorry..... do you have anything else to go on?
Geoff
Thanks for trying Geoff. I don't understand why this song is so hard to find, it was popular and got a lot of airplay. I have been all over the net joining forums and looking for lyric matches. If I could hum a few bars of the melody to you or anybody I'm sure you would know it. I think I should phone up a local classic rock DJ and do just that, because I won't feel comfortable until I find the answer. Again, thanks. Cheers...JoeWinnipeg.
AnswerYou are very welcome, Joe..... sorry I cound not be of service.
And yes... I am in my 40's (41 next month) and I do believe that the best music made came between 1976 and 1985 (The Eagles and Supertramp are 2 of my favourites). I remember when Supertramp came to Vancouver in 1983 on their final (at that time) world tour. I parked my cab (I was 19 and it was a job) outside BC Place and just listened. I loved it!
Talk to you later...
