Question
i heard you were the man to ask, i was just watching  the movie KingPin an at the very end when there having the bowl off, they played the song showdown,  Its going to be a showdown, who sings that song?

Answer
I am not familiar with the movie, but I bet it is by Electric Light Orchestra.
If it is indeed the ELO song, and you like that song,  you GOTTA get the CD " On The Third Day"  by Electric Light Orchestra,  I bet that is the song you are looking for.  I am not much of an ELO fan, but that album is fantastic.  It has a rock version of Beethovens "Hall of the Mountain King" on it that has a drum intro that is outragious.

Also,  it might be of interest to you that I went to see ELO when that song was released  (1973).  The concert was a blast. Bass, gutar,  drums,  some keyboards,  and three guys playing bass violas or cellos or violins.
As I say, other than that period of ELO I didn't care for them, they went kind of pop after that.  The entire album "on the third day" is full of gems that sound very much like Showdown,  same style, same sound,  same real beefy rock feel.   "Ma Ma Bell" was the hit song from the album.
If you get it, listen to it on a huge stereo setup and crank the bass, it will part your hair.

I can answer general questions about rock era bands, record labels they were on, and names of songs. Often I can tell the name of the record company that released a song, as well as the name of the song, and the year of release based on some of the lyrics. I grew up during the rock era and I am a musician myself, and always read the album and 45 info for production credits as well as lineups. One of the chat rooms I go to is quite amused at my ability to name a song along with it`s year of release and record label. I was also a record collector for years.
