Question
Hello.  I don t have much to go on, but I am searching for the title of a particular song and group who sung it.  I heard it on a classic rock station in Chicago last Saturday.  Here are the only clues I can give you:    -Classic rock song 60 s or 70 s  -Has kind of a surfer beat to it  -Sounds a little like The Monkees  -Part of the chorus starts with, and I will butcher this,  She got the waves to move me today?       I hope you can help me out.  Thanks.

Answer
I think perhaps you might be talking about Cherry Cherry by Neil Diamond.     Neil Diamond was a rock n roll dude before he went vegas.
The words to Cherry Cherry are "She's got the way to move me Cherry"  which may be what you are talking about.
The song has a prominent acoustic guitar with drums and bass and a tamborine.
If that is the song you are talking about, and you like it,  you would probably like a lot of Neil Diamonds early stuff.  He is the guy that wrote "Hanky Panky"  that was done by Tommy James and the Shondells.  I think he also wrote "I'm a Believer" for the Monkees.  If you are a guitarist,  the chords to it, I think  are E, A,  then D,  then A again.
Chances are your local library has some Neil Diamond greatest hits CDs.  Cherry Cherry is bound to be on one, it is one of his biggest hits.

I can answer general questions about rock era bands, record labels they were on, and names of songs. Often I can tell the name of the record company that released a song, as well as the name of the song, and the year of release based on some of the lyrics. I grew up during the rock era and I am a musician myself, and always read the album and 45 info for production credits as well as lineups. One of the chat rooms I go to is quite amused at my ability to name a song along with it`s year of release and record label. I was also a record collector for years.
