Classic Rock/name this song

Question
I heard this song many times and only recently started to enjoy it.  It starts out " When I was a young boy " It continues on with "  sure plays a mean guitar"

Answer
Those lyrics sure sound like "Pinball Wizard" buy The Who.  The last lyric (as you gave me) is "Sure plays a mean pinball".  This was used in the Rock Opera "Tommy" (and the album of the same name).  It was release by The Who on March 7th, 1969 - 2 weeks ahead of the release of the opera on March 22nd.  This was then covered by The Seekers in 1973, and again by Elton John in 1976.  All 3 versions were top 20 hits on both sides of the pond.

For the rest of the song (if that is it), go to http://www.lyricsfreak.com/w/who/pinball+wizard_20146689.html

If I can be of any other help - let me know.

Thanks

Having grown up during the 70`s, I have a great appreciation for what I consider to be the best music ever recorded. My favourite group from that era is The Eagles and I believe that the summer of 1976 was the best summer for music releases! Ask me anything about any top 40 group from the mid 70`s to the mid 80`s and I am to say with most certainty, that I will be able to provide you with an answer!
