Classic Rock/Who did this song?

Question
I am paraqphrasing someone else's inquiry about the song I'm interested in learning more about.  Was it on an album or was it a one hit wonder?  I thought it was from the 70's.  Sounds a little like Todd Rundgren to me.
Thanks!

Question
Hi Skeeter,
I'm looking for the title of a song, and the group that plays it. It starts off with a one note bass line that sounds kind of like Van Halen, maybe in A. While the bass is just hitting
A-A-A-A  A-A-A-A  A-A-A-A  A-A-A-A
The guitar is hitting power chords in
  A        C        G        D
I forget the verse, but the intro/chorus that goes with the above rythm seems to be
"Aaaaa    liiii     aaaa     aah"
  A        G         G       G-
                    "Here we go again"
                      D   D-  D  D- A
"Aaaaa    liiii     aaaa     aaah"
  A        G         G       G-
                    "Here we go again"
                      D   D-  D  D- E

The song is kind of a mid-eighties sounding hard rock song. Kind of like Van Halen, Foreigner, POV, or Giant. I can't find the title though. I don't think it's 'Aliyah' or 'Here we go again'. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Honestly,   rock music was pretty much gone by the early 80s and by 1985 I had quit bothering to turn the radio on,  so I really don't know much about the rock parody/big hair/spinal tap stuff.
I know the song you are talking about from having heard it before,  and could probably pick up a guitar and play it,  but I have no idea who it is.  I would think it is someone like Bon Jovi.   The vocals on it are far too good to be Van Halen.  It also might be someone like Bryan Adams.
I wish I could help you more, but rock era stuff is what I really know, I know bits and peices about some of the bands that came out after rock croaked (  for example the Cars were really a rock band, but were marketed as New Wave so the radio stations would play their stuff).

I can answer general questions about rock era bands, record labels they were on, and names of songs. Often I can tell the name of the record company that released a song, as well as the name of the song, and the year of release based on some of the lyrics. I grew up during the rock era and I am a musician myself, and always read the album and 45 info for production credits as well as lineups. One of the chat rooms I go to is quite amused at my ability to name a song along with it`s year of release and record label. I was also a record collector for years.
