Classical Music/String trio

Question
I have been in search of a string quartet for my wedding.  I have met with a group that works as a trio (cello and 2 violins).  They claim that the sound will not vary that much from that of a quartet.  We are getting married in a church and are concerned that the volume of the sound will not be loud enough. Would the sound from the trio be alright or would we need microphones?  Or would it be better to go with the quartet?

Answer
A good string trio can be as loud as a string quartet....but with 2 violins and cello instead of one violin, one viola and one cello i would think that firstly the harmonies might be a little top heavy and also the repertoire is not as good...as this is your marriage day, if you can afford it... i would hold out for a string quartet which is fuller and much more adaptable with a bigger repertoire of music...good luck for your big day
