Question
Dear Sir,

I'm dying trying to find who's responsible for composing a tune I've heard recently on russian tv (rtr-planeta). Actually I've heard only an excerpt ; dunno whether it's only a short theme written for a programme or a fragment of a larger piece. I'd be grateful if You could help me solve this "issue". This could be a russian origin piece, therefore I am turning to You for indications...

before playing this fragment, change extraction to ".wav"

Best Regards,

Answer
It sounds like Shostakovich film music. I only have a few recordings of his film scores so hopefully it's one of them because it sounds familiar.

I listened to the film suite recordings I have: "The Year 1919", "Pirogov", and "Zoya", and it's not one of them.

You MIGHT have some luck searching for Shostakovich film music on such sites as iTunes
and Amazon and click on their previews. Good luck!
