I am trying to pull together a list of classical and contemporary musical pieces that deal with rivers as a theme.  My students hope to analyze and compare different artists' interpretations and gain an understanding of the context in which the pieces were written.  Thanks for your assistance!

Hi Laurie,

This is a great way to expose students to Program Music (music that tells a story.) Unfortunately, other than certain Art Songs like "Die forelle" by Schubert (the trout), I don't have a wealth of pieces to send your way. You might want to try a search on Google or Yahoo.
