AboutAnthony Dinsdale Expertise Those concerning general information and identification of 'classical' music and composers, twentieth century in particular. Other serious music, obscure composers and film scores also covered.
Experience Just a lifetime of listening and something of a talent for remembering pieces and styles.
Organizations None relevant. Shakespeare would not have spelled that with a 'z' :)
Publications Several but none relevant to this subject.
Education/Credentials None relevant. I could answer in French but have not selected this from the final drop down box as the prompt is ambiguous or just plain incorrect. I think you meant to say 'in addition to', not 'other than'.
Awards and Honors Apparently I am quite good at fencing.

ANSWER: Hi Jon
I have listened carefully to the two pieces. Although they may sound classical, the second is certainly not and the first almost certainly not. Sounds more like someone imitating Bach or Faure.
Of course there is a huge quantity of contemporary music being produced on a daily basis, which makes familiarly with any given piece less and less likely.

QUESTION: Thank you so much for replying. Greatly appreciated. I am at least confused about the fact you consider the piece not even being a classical work.
Would you say that researching a bit more into the works of Alfred Schnittke or Dmitri Shostakovich for the piece would be a lost cause?
Don't you believe that the style resembles a piano trio?
Answer I may have been swayed by the sound quality and the setting - perhaps they do derive from something classical, the first one at least.
The pieces are attractive but difficult to place. I'm not familiar with Schnittke but would be very surprised to find either in Shostakovitch's list of works.
It's a query that I think may be hard to resolve but I would be interested to hear if you do manage to identify either piece.
