Question
Hello,

I recorded this piece of music from the radio about 20 years ago:
http://www.yousendit.com/download/THE0ZUNnYTJHa1B2Wmc9PQ

Unfortunately I detuned from the station right at the end, so I can't hear what the announcer says properly.  It sounds like he starts to say something that vaguely resembles "Cambowen"...???  Anyway, I'd really love to know what this piece is.  It has been playing on my mind ever since I first recorded it!!

I tried asking Expert Pat G, but he didn't think it was probably part of the classical repertoire.  Expert Gary Goldberg thinks it may be a pseudo-renaissance piece by a modern ensemble.  Any thoughts?

Many thanks!
Robin

Answer
Sorry this took so long!!!  I've been waiting to get to ask a friend (a trumpet player) would would likely know.

He thinks it is from Telemann's "Tafelmusik," but played faster than it usually is played.  To my ear, this would be accurate in terms of style and time -- mid-to-late-Baroque, one of the 2nd tier composers (that is, not Bach, Handel or Vivaldi).

If I were you, I'd go to a library and see if you can find Tafelmusik.  If this isn't to be found in that piece (which is quite long), you will likely enjoy that piece, in any case.

Happy listening,
