Question
QUESTION: Hello, I hope this finds you doing well.
I'm an online student at Sta Monica College taking "On Music Appreciation". For my homework, I'm researching what movies have played this piece of Bach's and learned it was played in the movie "Se7en". I emailing to ask if you have seen it and would remember in what scene it was played. I've seen the movie a few time on cable but I vaguely remember I think the music was played when Brad Pitt's character received the head of wife G Platrow but not sure.

Please advise and thank you. Have fun on the 4th.

ANSWER: i haven't seen the movie...can you think of a way to get the soundtrack..?? sorry   but the famous "air" comes from the 3rd orchestral suite in D...also known as "air on a G string"...

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: It's ok. Thank you.

My follow up question is - I read in Wikipedia this is a light fare from Bach and yet dark themed movies like "Se7en" use this? I coudn't find what "Air" is about. What is it about if anything? Thank you

Answer
the air is not a piece about anything in particular...if a piece written in the baroque era is about something specific it will say so..this is just a slow melodic movement in a suite which is made up of dances of the time such as gavottes and bourees and so on..
