Classical Music/Beethoven's 9th

Question
I am trying to find a relatively local (geographically speaking) performance of Beethoven's 9th. Any suggestions or links on how to best go about finding this information?

Answer
I think I need more information from you to help in a specific way, though I'll try to help in a general way.  Are you asking about an upcoming performance, a recent performance, or a historical performance?  In which local area?

Generally speaking, you would find out about which symphony orchestras and choruses there are in the area (they would be advertised in the local papers), and then contact those orchestras/choruses (through their websites or by phone).  These organizations know their plans usually about a year in advance, and typcially have historical information about what and where they have played any particular piece -- sometimes in a database, sometimes simply in collections of programs (which may also be in a local library).

If I have helped enough here, you don't have to write back.
