Classical Music/Harp Music

Question
Can you bring your expertise to bear on this piece of harp and flute music:

Any ideas as to the title or composer would be most welcome. I know nothing about it other than it was used in a BBC TV programme about birds around 20 years ago! My dad also had an unidentified tape featuring this piece and various others in a similar style, so I don't know if this is a 'standalone' piece or part of a collection of related pieces.

Any help you can give would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Answer
I'm afraid I'm not going to be much help to you.  It's not Mozart, even tho he wrote a piece for harp and flute.  It sounds as tho it's from the romantic period or, as you suspect, a separate piece.  I can see why it was used for a bird program!

Can you search BBC archives?

Another option is to look at folk music; I don't think it's Celtic or Welsh.  Doesn't sound French or Russian.  Might be movie music.  Perhaps if you search on "bird" and the year and "BBC" you might be able to find it thru Google.  If no joy, try adding "flute" and "harp" to terms.  Also check the Audubon Society (or whatever the proper name is in the UK), as they sometimes at least keep a list of bird programs.

A flute teacher may be able to help you since the flute part is the solo.

Hope one of these will get you closer to your answer! mb

My answers are not toss-offs. If I don't know the answer, I will do my best to find it.

I have many requests to identify a piece of music. If I can't identify it, I will tell you (1) what composer I think it is; (2) what composer or composers I think it is not; (3) what style period, genre, etc. I think it is or is not. And give you any other help I can to help you find the answer.

Please find a clear clip. In the interest of good computer hygiene, I will not download a clip. Nor will I go to a site where I must "register" in order to hear the clip. Please mount the clip on a public site for which you can give me a direct URL. Thanks for your understanding in this. Remember, I'm a volunteer!

Students, I do NOT do homework questions. The purpose of answering questions on assignments is not only to learn the information, but to LEARN HOW TO FIND IT. Re-read chapter. Look in the index. Look in the references given at the end of the chapter or elsewhere in the book. You also probably can find the answer using Google. Don't be lazy. I wouldn't be doing you any favors by doing your homework for you! I already know the answer. You don't. You need to find it. MORE IMPORTANTLY, you need to learn HOW to find it. That's the whole purpose of education, after all!
