Question
Please could you help me identify the music which was used in the televised opening of the Steve Irwin Memorial Service? I have asked everywhere but I haven't been able to find out what it is.

Here is the preview:

I asked Marbeth from Allexperts.com this question earlier this week, however he was not sure. This is what he had to say though.

"The clip is very soft and hard to make out. Perhaps it is something by Carl Orff. It doesn't sound like any section of Carmina Burana, but it could be Catulli Carmina.

On the other hand, maybe it is a faux classical piece - that is, a modern composition in the manner of a classical piece. Sorry I can't do better for you!"

Please can you be of any help David?

Cheers,
Chris.

Answer
Hi,
I agree with Marbeth, thinking it:

"is a faux classical piece - that is, a modern composition in the manner of a classical piece."

Probably the composer was hired to imitate Carmina Burana (one of the outer movements).  It is actually cheaper to hire someone than to pay royalties for using the real thing (Carmina is still under copyright).
