Question
Brahms wrote five Hungarian Dances. The first one is titled "Ungarische Tanze" with the following underwrite "fur Pianoforte zu vier Hauden gesetzi". Can you translate this into English and what language is it in?
Any help would be most appreciated.
Thank you.

Answer
First of all, Brahms wrote more than 5 Hungarian dances.  I believe that he wrote a total of 9. I don't have my music  scores in front of me because I am in the process of moving.
The language is German.  "Ungarische Tanze" translates to Hungarian Dance.  The second phrase I am not totally sure because I don't have a German dictionary handy, but I believe the basic translation is for piano, four hands (originally these dances were written for piano duet, but they also exist in a solo piano version).
