Classical Music/Need help identifying music

Question
Hi, I'm trying to identify a piece of music I used in an amateur film project over 20 years ago so I can re-edit and transfer it to DVD. I uploaded a sound clip to: www.2iii.com/409/lc_tune.mp3 . I believe it's a fairly well known piece (except by me) because I've heard it used several times over the years. Even if you don't know the origin, any clues would be helpful and much appreciated.
Thanks.

Answer
Hi John,

I wish that I could specifically identify this piece for you, but I do not know it. However, it does sound like a piece from after 1825 (Romantic, or Contemporary period). It also has a harmonic structure that sounds like it could have been from a composer who was trying to imitate far Eastern sounds. Perhaps the composer is Russian, but that might be a stretch.

I'm sorry that I couldn't be of more help!

Best,

Donald
