Question
Hi, i recently watched the remake of Romeo + Juliet, right at the start, there is a piece of classical music, with kind of female chants throughout it.
A segment of the song is on the movies 2nd soundtrack album under the name "O Verona"
A segment of the track can be sampled here (http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=1108719&BAB=M)

Id like to find out the composer, or even better a place where i can purchase the whole track.

Thanks for all your help, Michael.

Answer
I have never heard this piece before.  I am very sorry I cannot give you a title.

What you might do, however, is detailed google search on the movie title, song title, and -exclude- the text of the song (that is, the Shakespeare) and see if you can turn up info about just the music.  If you have a year the movie was made, names of actors/actresses/other performers/director, etc., that would help you refine your search.  Do you know the movie studio that issued it?  Or the distributor?  A google search might turn op this info.  Particularly if you know the "model" of the remake.  Was it the famous Zeffirelli work?

Another thing would be to purchase the soundtrack to the movie.  Surely the info would be there, and you could then buy the entire piece.

And, last, I am sure there must be newsgroups that would be germane, such as, "Shakespeare", "movie scores", and topics like that.

This is the best I can for you.  I regret that I can't help you more than this.  mb

My answers are not toss-offs. If I don't know the answer, I will do my best to find it.

I have many requests to identify a piece of music. If I can't identify it, I will tell you (1) what composer I think it is; (2) what composer or composers I think it is not; (3) what style period, genre, etc. I think it is or is not. And give you any other help I can to help you find the answer.

Please find a clear clip. In the interest of good computer hygiene, I will not download a clip. Nor will I go to a site where I must "register" in order to hear the clip. Please mount the clip on a public site for which you can give me a direct URL. Thanks for your understanding in this. Remember, I'm a volunteer!

Students, I do NOT do homework questions. The purpose of answering questions on assignments is not only to learn the information, but to LEARN HOW TO FIND IT. Re-read chapter. Look in the index. Look in the references given at the end of the chapter or elsewhere in the book. You also probably can find the answer using Google. Don't be lazy. I wouldn't be doing you any favors by doing your homework for you! I already know the answer. You don't. You need to find it. MORE IMPORTANTLY, you need to learn HOW to find it. That's the whole purpose of education, after all!
