Question
Dear Donald: I'm a trained classical musician (piano), not working in the field.  In the absence of good record stores to browse in, I don't know where to go online to find the best presentation of  recorded classical music to preview and purchase. The popular sites like realplayer and have only token offerings in classical music. Is there a  site for classical music that gives you particulars about the performances, performers, reviews, and a wide selection of both classic recordings and the latest releases.   Thank you!  Sally

Answer
Hi Sally!

What a great question! Believe it or not, some of the best archives of great classical recordings can be found through the CD clubs that are out there. I belong to BMG, and have found their selection to be expansive, if not current at times. Artists that are signed to labels are frequently represented through these online clubs. Also, sites for major retailers, such as Best Buy, have an extensive library of recordings. Finally, you can often go to the artist websites to find great recordings, if you have someone particular in mind.

Please let me know if any of this helps you, and let me know if I need to dig further to serve you.

Best regards,

Donald
