Classical Music/piece of music with the taps theme

Question
The music was a tribute to fallen soldiers, hence the Taps theme at the end (played by a bugle or some piece of brass to sound like a bugle).  I remember the music being moving, haunting and somewhat melancholy.  It was a full symphony orchestra, however I did not hear the piece in its entirety, so I can't be sure of the length. I would venture to say that it was most likely an American composer - from what I understand Taps is significant to the US military only.

-----Question-----
I recently heard a piece of music that ended with the first few notes of Taps.  I believe it was composed in the 20th century, probably post WWII.  Do you know the name and the composer of this piece of music?
-----Answer-----
You haven't given me much to go on -- a simple rising fourth at the end.  Do you know the instrumentation?  Or could you describe the mood or general sound of the piece, or how long it is?  Anything else about the piece you remember?

I can't guarantee I can help, but if I can, it would require a bit more evidence.

Answer
I still can't help.  Sorry about that.  This just doesn't ring any bells for me.

You might take a look at movie music (not one of my specialties).  Didn't John Williams write the music for Saving Private Ryan?  From what you say about the music, that's at least a possibility.  Or some of the other recent war movies . . .

Best wishes,
David
