Classical Music/How to push above Soprano C

Question
I'm having trouble singing above Soprano C.  I sing tenor and alto, and can imitate a soprano's vibrato up to the G# below Soprano C.  My voice can be pushed higher, but thats as high as it goes and the note is shrill and flat sounding, even if the tuner says the C6 is sharp.  I regular go to the A and B-flat below it, but I want to sing the D, E, F and even C above soprano C.  Not trying to break any records, but any ideas on how to get my voice HIGHER I will love.  How can I get there, with my throat intact?  I'll do anything, short of drugs.

Answer
Hello,
You need to work closely with a good teacher.  You may already have one.

If it were possible for someone to give you advice over the internet that allowed you to get your voice to go higher, then everyone would do it.  In fact, each voice has limitations.  You can, with the help of a good teacher and with years of diligent work, make the most of your own voice.  But you can't make it into something it isn't.

If you don't like what your teacher is telling you, find a different teacher.  You may find that each one will ultimately tell you the same thing.  Or you might have the potential to have a very high voice.  I can't tell you.

Sorry there is no easy answer here.
