Question
Hi,

I am looking for a career change and I would like to get into the Holistic Practice field. I live in Florida and I am a little bit lost how this would work. In the future I would like to have my own studio to help people with their health including Reike. Maybe go deeper in Herbs...I don't know...Still working on it. Anyway, I heard about Clayton and Australasian College of Health Sciences, but ACHS do not offer Bachelor's. They will offer Associate and Maters starting in August. I am very confused in which school to choose and if a Diploma will fulfill my needs. Can you help me?
Thanks,

Valeria

Answer
ACHS is an accredited school by an agency recognized by the department of education.  This accreditation does help with credibility when dealing with other practitioners including chiropractors, medical professionals and some skeptical individuals.  It is an excellent school, I have actually taken courses from the ACHS and would highly recommend it.

The one drawback is that they do not offer degree programs.  So for individuals who are very serious about opening their own practice in holistic health the lack of a degree is a serious hindrance. It would be difficult to own your own practice without an advanced degree in my opinion.

Clayton College does offer several degree programs, they do provide a solid education in herbology, homeopathy and other alternative modalities.  The drawbacks to Clayton are that they are not accredited by a DOE recognized agency and their degree programs do not require the standard amount of credit hours.

However, having an advanced degree is quite important for having your own practice.

There are both positives and negatives about both schools, however both schools do provide a fabulous education.  So regardless of which school you choose you will come away with an excellent education.

It really is a personal choice what type of degree you want, and whether the accreditation is an issue for you.  I believe that ACHS holistic practitioner and master herbalist programs would be great for what you want to do. However, I myself would prefer to have a degree.

Hopefully that is helpful.
