Clayton College of Natural Health/Feeling Down

Question
Kay,

Glad you are on this site to address questions about Clayton.  I am a graduate of CCNH.  When I completed my program I was so proud and happy.  I felt good about the work that I had accomplished and the courses I had studied at CCNH. Now, I feel a bit down and embarassed about having a degree from that school.  I feel like my education is a joke and that I have a degree that is worthless.  It is difficult to have to explain that the school where I received my degree is closed.  Doesn't that destroyed the credibility of degrees from CCNH?  Just wondering how you felt.  Your thoughts?  Also, do you think CCNH will revamp and reopen?

Answer
Heather-I am glad you asked this question as I am sure there are many CCNH grads who are feeling the same way. I have an MS and PhD from CCNH and like you, I worked very hard to obtain them. The education I received was good and I do not regret the experience one bit. You say that it is "difficult to explain that the school where you received your school is closed." So, just whom are you explaining this to and just why do you feel you must explain it at all? Schools close. Accredited, non-accredited, they close. It happens. What has that got to do with the validity of your degree? It's not as though CCNH was a diploma mill. You actually had to work. So again, why do feel the need to defend your degree because the school closed?
I've said this before and I'll say it again: I don't give a rip what anyone thinks--especially not other practitioners, so called-friends, family members or anyone else who might feel the need to degrade what I feel I have accomplished. I know what I did at CCNH and I will not let anyone rob me of my dream. Don't let anyone rob you of yours.
I do not think CCNH will reopen. If that was the plan, I think they would have said something about it by now. Hope this helps!
