Question
I receive my Doctorate in Holistic Health Science from Clayton College in 2003.  I live in Ohio and was wondering can I legally put Ph.D. after my name?  I was told recently that Clayton College was not authorized to issue degrees in the State of Alabama; is this true?  Who makes that decision?  Can I put my Ph.D. degree on my resume?

Answer
Pam-Yes. you can legally use PhD after your name in Ohio. However, OH has some very strict laws concerning the practice of nutrition. If you are considering opening up your own consulting business please look at the following website: http://lifestylemanagement.com/state_law_pages/laws_ohio.htm
Clayton was authorized to issue degrees in AL as they were state licensed. It is the individual state that determines whether a school can issue degrees or not.
