Cleaning Up/Silk rugs

Question
We purchased two small silk rugs in Abu Dhabi in June2007.They were folded and packed into the container by the packers. When I removed them from the box they were very creased and even after 5 months of refolding, hanging with weights, you name it , I've tried it and still these very expensive rugs are creased. What shall I do next? Looking forward to your reply. Many thanks in anticipation!

Answer
Hi Susie,
In order to remedy your creasing situation, you should take your rugs to a carpet shop and have them blocked.  Blocking is the process that carefully stretches and/or reshapes a rug to its original look.  Since your rugs haven't been soaked in water or shrunk, your rugs should come out looking like brand new again.  Blocking is a process that not all carpet stores will do, so make sure you choose a place that specializes in Oriental rugs.  We're located in the Washington, DC area in case you happen to be nearby.
I hope the information is helpful.  Please feel free to contact me should you have any other questions.  Congratulations on your purchase!
Best, Katie (ruglady@jahannandsons.com)
