Question
Every time i do a load of washing it always comes out smelling of damp/mildew (difficult to explain really) It doesn't matter which powder or conditioner I use the clothes always smell mouldy.

Answer
Julie,
You will want to check the hoses and the "outside" of the tub (the drum) for mildew.  Take the back or front off the washer and look inside and clean any part that looks YUCKY.  Flush the hoses out with vinegar.
When you've got it all back together, do a whole wash/rinse cycle with bleach in the water--use about 1/2 gallon.  That should get the hoses that you couldn't reach clean.
If you use fabric softener, cut back on the amount you use.  It has a tendency to build up and smell.  One of the ingredients in some is animal fat--a breeding ground for mildew.  Use dryer sheets instead.
