Cleaning Up/hard water

Question
Do you have a "green" solution to clean rusty hard well water stains from the toilet? Now the only thing that works is "The Works" brand cleaner which is very harsh. I have a water softener and iron filter.

Answer
Barbara,
I sure do!  First turn off the water supply to the toilet (down there by the wall) and flush.  You now should have a pretty empty bowl.  Warm up a cup of vinegar and pour it around the ring (save a little for later).  Now sprinkle "20 Mule Team Borax" (best to do it by hand) around the ring. Let it set for about 15 minutes.  Get some "drywall" sandpaper (it looks like 'mesh" from the hardware store. It is easy to tear so tear or cut a piece about 4" x 4".  Use this to scrub the ring.  Add a little 20 Mule Team Borax to the left over vinegar to make a paste which you can use while scrubbing.
This really works like a charm!  ONLY use "Drywall sandpaper (mesh). You can use this on any porcelain surface.

Happy scrubbing!  Oh yea, turn the water back on and flush!!
