Hello-I am redecorating my home. I bought Color Place paint, which is water based, at WalMart. I tripped and spilled toffee color paint on the living room carpet. I have a deep steam cleaner, but the detergent for it hasn't worked on removing the paint stains. I am not talking about a little spot, this stain measures about 6 feet x 6 feet. I can't afford to replace the carpet right now. Can you tell me what will work? I have heard water based paint thinner, dish liquid, hydrogen peroxide, etc. Dish liquid didn't work. I am so upset I can't think. The color is beautiful on the walls, but not on the carpet. Thank you for any advice.

Try "oops" or "goof" or if those don't work try Xyline(sp?).

Opps and goof I've seen at wal-mart, xyline ace hardware.

Take it easy just dab a little on a white towel and rub gently, working the top of fiber's only. It will take a little time. You have to be careful that it doesn't penetrate to far down the carpet. All three contain solvents that can release the glue that holds the strands in the backing. DON'T pour it on the paint and DON'T rub so hard as the chemical gets to backing!  You'll end up a big hole.
