Cleaning Up/really....really burnt on broiler pans

Question
Hi
I have 2 broiler pans my daughter broiled stuff on and they are really, really burnt.
Is there a product I can purchase to help clean them off. It is impossible to do it by hand.
I hate to lose them. They are of good quality and used often.
I thank you for any advise you can give me.
Sue

Answer
Hi Sue;
I am sorry that it took me so long to answer, I just received your email.

This solution works very well when it is something that is burned on. Whether it is a broiler pan or a saucepan.

Mix 4 Tablespoons of salt to enough HOT water to cover the pan. If the pan won't fit in the sink, lay it in the bathtub. Let this sit for about an hour and then drain the water and do it again if the burnt stuff won't come off. However, this time let the pan sit in the solution overnight.

By the next morning, you should be able to use a brillo pad and wash it right off.

For pans that have old burnt crud on them: Turn the oven on and heat it up to 350 degrees and turn it off. Spray the pan with oven cleaner and set the pan in the oven and leave it in there until the oven cools down and then wash with a brillo pad, hot water and dish soap.

I hope this helps you and you see how easy it can be to clean it up.
