Question I bought a bounce house last summer and when I pulled it out this year it had black spots all over, which I'm assuming is mold. I tried cleaning it with vinegar and water but it seems to still be spreading. I even tried a bleach and water mixture but the spots are still there and I'm afraid to let the kids jump on the spots, but I don't want to get rid of it yet. A lot of people are telling me not to worry too much because the sun will kill the mold. What can I do?
Answer Hi Kim, sounds like the bounce house had a little moisture on it when it was stored away. The spots sound like mildew, which grows in spots and spreads (think bathroom tiles.)
While it is true sunlight will help kill it you can also clean it.
Some cleaners may remove the coloring of the house so I can't comment on that. But any mildew removing product should do the trick. Bleach is not always the best choice.
You may already own some bath cleaner that might do the trick.
Also the black may get infused with the plastic of the house and may not be a danger but just discolored. Once it stops spreading I think you'd be okay.
And of course it has to be 100% dry before storage after the summer, which by the way is not easy!
