Question Hi Jan, I was watching TV late last night and saw a Shark Mop Steam mop infomurcial. It looks wonderful. I actualy got out my credit card to buy one when a little voice in my head said ," Ask an expert". So that is my question: are they as good as they look? I never buy anything on TV but this appears to really work well. Does the steam hurt vinyl flooring? Is it really good? thanks for your reply, Wendy
Answer Hi Wendy;
I know what you mean about infomercial. However, I received mine as a gift, so I wasn't out any money.
My opinion is this: The mop pads are too expensive to use and the handle is flimsy. You do end up with dirt streaks that you have to go over several times in order to pull them up too. Even though you have this with washing with a mop, it doesn't take as many swipes to get it up. Since there isn't any rinsing of the mop, all of this is on the floor and you have a wet floor that also takes longer to dry, because this doesn't have a water vacuum to pull the excess water.
Do I like it? Only for spills, for actual washing--I use my mop, it goes a lot faster!
If you would like more opinions, simply use these keywords in a search at Yahoo or Google- shark mop review- and it will give you the opinions of a lot of other homemakers.
I hope this gives you the answers you wee looking for,
