Question
a pro cleaner cleaned my wool rug and the colors have run. She denies
she did it. the rug had never been cleaned before.  what should I do
about this?  the rug's background and edge is ivory. the dark colors
look darker.

Answer
Hi Shirley,

I'm sorry to hear about your rug.  Karastan rugs don't run that often, and if the colors were to run, it sounds as if the first spot you'd notice would be the ivory part.  There would be other colors bleeding into it.  (You can see a photo of a color run rug on our website: http://www.jahannandsons.com/services.html)

Do you have photos?  Perhaps I can understand better if I see pictures.  If the colors of the rug have run, then you probably need to have the run dyes removed from the carpet to restore its original design and color.  If in fact the dark colors just looked darker, that could be a result of the cleaning, but not in a bad way.  It could just be that the colors weren't as vibrant because the rug wasn't as clean.  That is just a thought.

Hopefully this information is helpful, and with photos, I think I can be a bigger help.  Feel free to email me directly: ruglady@jahannandsons.com

Best,
Katie
