Question
My son works at a local restaurant as a fry cook. he gets some of the cooking oil splash and oil vapor on his clothes. He was wondering how he could get the oil and the odor out of his clothes. what do you suggest?

Answer
Hi Rick;
Well, the handy old gramma way seems to work the best. 1/4 cup of baking soda, 1/2 cup of vinegar and 1/8th cup of salt to a washer load. Baking soda works as a deodorizer and deep cleaner, the combination of the vinegar and baking soda causes the chemicals to foam and rise in the washer (but don't panic it settles down in seconds). The reason for the salt is because it is an abrasive and does the rubbing action without tearing the fiber of the material. You may have some of the 'spot' left, but the odor and the grease will be removed.
By the way, the combination also works as a fabric softener too---wasn't gramma smart?
Good Luck Rick and happy washing,
