Cleaning Up/Dust Mop

Question
My dust mop is past the point of doing its job...I feel like I'm just moving the dirt around.  How do I clean it without ruining it?

Answer
Hi rd;

You are right, you are probably just moving the dust around. After a while, the string gets clogged (so to say) with dust particles that even shaking won't take out. However, cleaning it is simple.

Simply take the head off of th duster and throw it in your washing machine. Add soap as usual and 1/4 cup baking soda (works as a deodorizer/fabric softener and cleaning agent all in one) and wash and dry as usual. You can add this to a washer load of scatter rugs and it won't hurt a thing.

Now you have a clean dust mop head and are ready to go again!
