Cleaning Up/ink and dye stains out of carpet

Question
I have a 100% wool white rug that has dye stains from a colored rug that was on top of it for several years. We used Hoover rug doctor to try and get out the stain with Bissell rug cleaner and folex stain remover. This got some of the stain out but not all of it. What can I do to get the rest of the stain out on the white 100% wool carpet? Thank you for your assistance.

Answer
Hi John,

I'm sorry to hear about your rug! You have a tricky situation, as the rug is not actually stained, but redyed.  What color transferred onto your white rug?  I believe that you're going to need to use dye remover(s) in order to remove the dye.  Where you may run into issues is if there is any chemical residue remaining from the cleaners that you've used before on that spot.  Let me know what color is left behind, and I can give you a better idea of what to use to get it out and how well the outcome is going to be.

Best,
Katie
