Cleaning Up/Vinyl Gloves

Question
I use vinyl disposable gloves to clean up after the animals in our home=feces, urine, the floor, etc... one time, I put them on to remove, by hand, charcoal briquets from our barbeque, when I took off the gloves, I noticed some small amount of black on my hand... does this mean things can get through the barrier? thought it kept out germs, fluids, and such...

Answer
Hi Janet;
Charcoal also has a fine dust that can enter through the top of the glove (nothing is 100% foolproof), although vinyl gloves aren't as thick as rubber gloves, this is true with both.
They don't let chemicals etc. through, but some gloves have a higher density than others. Such as nitrile gloves (surgical gloves) are probably the best of all. Neoprene gloves can't be used with certain chemicals (furniture stripper) or they lose density fast and may eventually fall apart. Get the idea? But as far as dust of any kind goes, it usually enters through the top of the glove. Some particles are so fine that the eye doesn't see them, but they do show up on the skin.
Rest assured, for what you are using them for, they will do the trick without contamination of your skin--just stay away from the charcoal!~
Hope this helps,
