Cleaning Up/restoring finish on plastic

Question
I know this isn`t exactly a home question katie, but here goes anyway. I was trying to clean the plastic that covers the speedometer in my car (it had paint overspray on it) and attempted to use that OOpps cleaner. It kind of smells like lighter fluid stuff. Well long story short...It did okay on the one side but on the other it kind of made it look foggy. Is there any little secret method in your little cleaning bag of tricks that might help me restote the transparency of the plkastic? Thank you in advance!

Answer
I have to preface my answer by saying that my home cleaning expertise is in oriental carpet care, and I really don't know anything about cars.  This sounds like there is fog/condensation inside the spedometer.  Maybe you need to remove the plastic cap and clean both sides with windex.  Good luck!
