Question
How is the battery removed and replaced in a Hamilton RR watch with 505 movement?

Answer
Mike,

First thing, look at the movement under magnification to see how the battery is held into place.  It will either be held by a screw, or friction.

It is best to use something non metal to get it out. If you must use jewelers screwdrivers, be extremely careful.

Put your finger on the back quarter of the battery.  You don't want your finger to prevent the battery from coming out but you do want to protect the movement in case your screwdriver slips.

Once you have removed the screw, gently put the screwdriver under the edge of the battery and lift it up.  Be very gentle so you don't damage anything.

Use the number on the battery to determine what size the new battery must be and now put it in by reversing the process.

Kind regards,

Melvin
