Question
This clock was given to me by my inlaws.  Has a small electric motor and takes a "D" battery.  Every 5 minutes it makes a noise (like a bullfrog).  What can I do to stop the noise?  Many Thanks

Answer
Hi Dmaier,
Battery electric movements have no repairable parts. I don't know what the sound might be (possibly gear noise), but the only remedy is to replace the movement.
Battery movements are available from clock supply houses like Timesavers, Merritts Antiques or Empire Clock. The replacement movement may not look like your original movement, but as long as it fits in the clock case, it will work the same. It is important that you select the correct hand shaft length, so the hands do not hit the dial or stick out too far. Installation is usually easy; a single nut behind the hands holds the movement in the case.
