Question
When I was showing the clock it felt on its glass and broke. In its back is written 17,5 cm,( I guess it is the diameter of the glass), 137 4 and FHS Germany. I want so desperately a new glass but could not find one until now. Can you help me?
The clock is wooden (teak?) and between 35-40 cm high. If needed i can send a picture.

Answer
Hi Hella,
The "17.5" indicates the length of the pendulum of the clock. From the size of the clock that you indicate, I will assume that it has a flat, rectangular glass. As long as it is not a bevelled glass, any glass repair shop can cut you a replacement glass.
If there was decoration or markings on the glass, or if it was bevelled glass, you will need to contact the manufacturer. The manufacturer's name is usually marked on the dial or back panel of the clock. Your clock's movement was made by Franz Hermle Company, and the clock itself may have been made by them as well. Their website is www.hermleclock.com/ .
