Question

Clock trim
I am attempting to repair a Becker clock case that was horribly damaged in shipment and also had previous repair.  Some of the trim does not appear to be correct. The finish on the "dart and egg" molding is much different than the ogee molding directly beneath it and the design is not elegant as at the very bottom. There is a model number 758 on the back of the case.  Would you have any references to look at to see what the original trim should look like?  I can send more pictures to you directly if needed.

Answer
During the last decade of the 20th century I donated the bulk of my horological library to, The American Watch and Clockmaking Institute, National Association of Watch And Clock Collectors and Bates Technical school.  I suggest you poll your local library for verious reference work about Gustav Becker.  One that comes immediately to mind is "The Gustav Becker Story" by Karl Kockman.  I am very partial to Becker clocks, in his time he did it all.  Regards WJP
